A Tale of Two Centers: Visual Exploration of Health Disparities in Cancer Care

August 2019 - Present

Description

According to CDC, cancers in all forms are causing about 21.3% of all deaths in the US. In some US counties, cancer is the second leading cause of death, whereas in other counties it ranks higher or lower. In this project, we propose a novel approach to finding the difference and correlation between the Head and Neck cancer patients’ cohort. The system uses the patients’ data from two different cancer centers and visualize the similarities and dissimilarities between these two cohorts in terms of demographic and disease characteristics, treatment prescription, and outcome, socioeconomic status, etc. The program provides users with an effective way to analyze the data in a simple and competent manner to make and grasp a decision.
